Air Force basic training pay may seem low until additional compensation is calculated into the total. Air Force Basic Military Training AFBMT lasts eight weeks. The base pay depends on previous military experience and the rank at which a recruit enters.

A recruit with dependents will also receive additional pay.

During basic training itself, recruits eat at the dining facility for free. If the recruit's family lives on base, they receive Air Force housing and meals at no extra cost.
